Gratitunes: A Truly Nashville Way to Encourage Medical Staff During COVID-19

Amid the global COVID-19 pandemic, doctors, nurses, and medical staff are risking their own health and safety and working tirelessly to help care for those who need it most. Wanting to give their community a tangible way to support and encourage those on the front lines, Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC) and Nashville-based entertainment marketing agency, FlyteVu, crafted the vision for a digital campaign called Gratitunes. We were excited to join the team to help bring the vision to life.

The goal for Gratitunes is simple: provide an easy way for people to encourage and uplift VUMC healthcare workers in true Nashville style: through the power of music. More specifically, through online musical performances, song dedications, messages of support, and monetary donations. Here's how it'll work.

30 Days of Gratitunes Performances

Every day for the next thirty days, different musical artists including Sara Evans, Amy Grant, Jewel, and Walker Hayes, will dedicate one of their own inspirational songs to doctors, nurses, and medical staff through special performances on Instagram or IGTV.

This morning, Brad Paisley kicked things off with a special performance of "Southern Comfort Zone".

30 Days of Song Dedications and Messages of Support

If you'd like to dedicate your personal favorite songs to frontline workers, you can choose a 'Gratitune' from the website and it will be added to a playlist that is shared with VUMC staff and streamed to clinics to help uplift spirits. And, if you'd like to, you can share your dedication along with a note of encouragement on social media to help spread the joy.

Lastly, if you'd like to make a donation to support VUMC's COVID-19 frontline staff, you can do that too. Your donation will help provide child care for doctors, nurses, and staff as they work extended hours, housing for those who must isolate from their families in order to continue working, and proper protective equipment to ensure the health and safety of medical staff as they continue fight the pandemic.
