Event Live in 360°
TL;DR
A La La Land SXSW Activation
Every year, Austin’s SXSW festival brings together the best and the brightest minds from the worlds of music, film, and technology. One of the most exciting events to take place during the first weekend of 2017’s festival was hosted by Lionsgate. On Sunday night, a popular courtyard in Downtown Austin was transformed into Seb’s – the beloved jazz club from La La Land. For a few hours that evening, SXSWers were able to take a break from the festival to enjoy La La Land-inspired cocktails, live jazz music, and a conversation with Oscar-winning composer Justin Hurwitz.
Wanting to share the very special evening with fans of the film who were unable to attend the event, Lionsgate asked our team to live-stream the entire evening in 360 degrees.
Work
Optimizing the Experience
In order to create the best experience possible for those tuning in online, we set up our camera next to the piano on stage. This gave users a great view of Justin and the band as well as the audience and the entire venue. We also worked hand-in-hand with the event’s audio and lighting crews to optimize the sights and sounds for the 360 stream.
