A VR Tour of EMD Serono
Giving the world an immersive sneak preview of Merck’s newest facility.
About the project
Merck is a leading global biopharmaceutical company that has remained at the forefront of biopharma research for over a century, bringing forward medicines and vaccines for many of the world’s most challenging diseases. With a focus on advancing innovation and knowledge-sharing across its R&D teams, the company recently announced plans for a $12 million expansion of its R&D facility in Billerica, Massachusetts.
Wanting to give employees and investors an immersive sneak peak of what the breathtaking 30,000 square foot facility would look like, Merck turned to SubVRsive to create a VR tour.
To create an experience that would allow users to freely explore the entire campus as if they were there themselves, we designed the walkthrough as an interactive tour rather than an on-rails experience. Wearing an Oculus Rift or HTC Vive headset, users are able to take control of their tour and virtually teleport to each and every space within the state-of-the-art facility, in any order they choose. At each stop, users can look in all directions to get a true sense of how the space will feel once construction is complete.
Interactive VR Tours
Interactive Virtual Reality experiences like this are a great way for brands and agencies to give users a captivating preview of products and places yet to be built. With high-resolution 3D models and lifelike textures, our team is able to bring projects-in-progress to life in an engaging new way.
