TL;DR

Take in the Outdoors

Nature Valley teamed up with Mindshare and Subvrsive to launch an immersive website that allows visitors to recharge and take in the beauty of nature. Featuring stunning 360 footage, environmental soundscapes, and nature-themed podcasts from SpokenLayer, the web experience instantly transports users to the great outdoors.

Idea

20 Minutes in Nature

Since creating the world’s first granola bar nearly 50 years ago, Nature Valley has always inspired people to get outside and enjoy the fresh air. And for good reason: spending just 20 minutes in nature can help reduce stress. But as 9-5ers know, it’s not always possible to step away and take a nature break. So, Nature Valley turned to Mindshare and Subvrsive to create a way for people to recharge when the outdoors is out of reach.

Upon entering the experience, visitors can choose to “Take in the View” or “Take in the Trail” to immerse themselves in the sights and sounds of nature. Selecting either option instantly ignites a 360 degree scene peppered with interactive hotspots that unlock content curated to create a sense of calm. Visitors can enjoy the tranquil 360 degree views, watch quick nature videos, or listen to longer-format podcasts to immerse themselves in moments like rainy day hikes, skipping rocks on the lake, and peaceful evenings under the stars.

Feature

360 Video & Audio Capture

Our team travelled to the woodlands of New York to capture seamless 360 video footage of two landscapes that serve as the interactive hub of the web experience. The View features panoramic views of a peaceful lake, while The Trail showcases a serene walking path at the foot of a flowing waterfall. Both scenes are accompanied by an environmental soundscape comprised of nature sounds we captured on site.

It was our aim to make the web experience easily accessible to as many users as possible. So, a range of accessibility features including captioning, Spanish language translations, reduced blur motion effects, and keyboard navigation were built into the experience.

The New Face of Web Design

Immersive web experiences allow for a new kind of brand encounter in which consumers are invited to step into the brand story and experience it in a more engaging and memorable way. Allowing consumers to interact more deeply with a brand creates a two-way conversation, making an indelible impression they won’t soon forget.
