SFVR (San Francisco Virtual Reality Meetup) - Recap

One of the most fascinating things about the Virtual Reality industry is how community-driven it is. Over the past couple of years, we have seen VR Meetup groups popping up one by one in nearly every major city in the United States, as well as in other countries. VR Meetup groups are a place for those in the industry and VR enthusiasts to socialize, network, and demo the latest in bleeding edge technology. While some groups are still in their infancy, others are thriving with thousands of members and monthly events.

We recently had the chance to travel to San Francisco and attend SFVR. SFVR has over 1600 members on their Meetup page and has recently expanded to The Gray Area Theater, in San Francisco's Mission District, to hold their events.

The Meetup we attended was SFVR's 11th Meetup. It was sold out, with 600 people in attendance. Vendors included companies from every area of the VR community. From hardware companies such as Leap Motion, SubPac, and DODO Case to game studios, analytics companies, and content creators. We had a great time meeting everyone and trying all the fantastic demos. It truly was amazing seeing hundreds of people, who are working every day to further the VR industry, come together to put on such a great event.

If you are a VR enthusiast, or even just curious about the technology, I would highly encourage you to go to Meetup.com and find a VR Meetup near you.

Thanks to SFVR for a great event. We can't wait to visit again soon.
