SHOWTIME | Championship Boxing Preview - Thurman vs Garcia

Our team at Subvrsive has had the pleasure of working with SHOWTIME Sports on several occasions to capture exhilarating primetime boxing matchups in fully immersive 360 degrees. After we saw huge success with the first few 360-degree boxing experiences – including millions of views, great user feedback, and even an Emmy nomination – the network invited us back to give fans a new immersive thrill. This time, though, rather than capturing the fight itself, we built up excitement for boxing’s premier event of 2017 with a 360 teaser of the highly anticipated showdown between Keith “One Time” Thurman and Danny “Swift” Garcia.

Thurman vs Garcia: Building excitement

The immersive teaser used a combination of thrilling 360 training footage, brutal clips from previous knockout fights, and slick motion graphics to set the stage for the night’s epic clash. We also incorporated interview footage from both of the previously undefeated welterweight world champions and accompanied the visual footage with adrenaline-pumping music and a voice-over.

To help drum up excitement for the world title unification fight, SHOWTIME showcased the 360° preview on their Facebook and YouTube pages, as well as on Samsung VR, Hulu, and Littlstar. The video received a combined total of nearly 200K views and some pretty enthusiastic feedback from Showtime’s fans and followers. As one viewer succinctly put it, “360 VR IS DOPE!!!”. We couldn’t have said it better ourselves.
